The Specialist Applied-skills Programme & Other News:

Here at TCC we have been very busy but not too busy to enjoy the sunshine and the torrential rain!

Mark’s role as training manager for SPRA (Single Ply Roofing Association) has been keeping him busy and out of mischief, well almost! SPRA is the trade association representing the UK’s single ply roofing industry. The aim of SPRA is to enable the development and sustainability of all sectors of the single ply roofing industry. SPRA does this by working with members, contractors and manufacturers to ensure the profile of single ply roofing systems as a high value and efficient product.

Training is an integral part of SPRA, to ensure standards remain high the correct training is essential. SPRA therefore offers several training pathways to achieve recognised industry qualifications. SPRA training ensures that workers in the single ply sector are fully trained in, and compliant with, current industry standards. Training also provides a learning pathway for workers to advance their careers within the sector.

Mark recently spent a week in sunny Cambridge with the SAP 6 training course. The Specialist Applied Skills Programme or SAP 6 is a vocational qualification for those embarking on a career in the single ply industry, it provides hands on training in a workshop environment as well as class room based learning.

Currently places for SAP 7 in September are filling up fast so don’t delay book today!

Funding is available through SPRA to train industry members however as with all funding it won’t be around forever. So, if you are considering training for yourself or others now is the time to sign up, if you would like more information then email training@spra.co.uk, or visit the website www.spra.co.uk. All SPRA training is open to members and non-members.

SPRA Conference

The SPRA conference in June was a very enjoyable event and Mark was delighted to present the BCP Training Provider Certificate in his capacity as training manager to Ronan Brunton of SealEco Ltd. He also delivered a speech detailing the different training routes offered by SPRA.

PAT Training

Thanks to Tim James from PAT Testing Expert http://www.pat-testing-expert.com who was the trainer at a PAT training course that Mark attended in July, Mark thoroughly enjoyed the training and is now fully qualified to carry out Portable Appliance Testing.

Cooper’s Last Word

Custard cream shortage at TCC! The humans have “forgotten” to buy custard creams, I think it’s a conspiracy to starve me as I heard them whispering when they thought I was sleeping that I was looking ………. chubby! If I was chubby could I have chased those two whippets last night, ok I couldn’t catch them and had to stop for a rest but seriously……chubby …ME? If you have any love in your heart for a poor starved dog then send custard creams…. NOW!
